Enabling Inclusive, Active Communities

The main aim of the Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) is to help fund projects or initiatives that will:

promote the social, economic or environmental well-being of the locality and result in the creation or enhancement of a physical asset. 

Qualifying Criteria

The expenditure must be capital in nature.

  • Evidence that the project has been asked for by the local community should be submitted with grant applications.
  • The applicant should be able to demonstrate that it can meet any ongoing revenue costs.
  • The facility or project should be available to all sectors of the local community and must not be political or religious in nature.
  • The project should have the support of the town or parish council where this exists, or in unparished areas, another appropriate, constituted community group should be the sponsor.
  • Evidence that matched funding has been investigated or secured must be provided with the application.
  • Successful applicants will be expected to work with the County Council in promoting and publicising their project.
  • Any funds granted must be spent by 31 March 2011.
